Our Proof

A considerable body of evidence – from internal and external studies as well anecdotal testimony – supports the claim that MCS programs have a far-reaching positive effect on people, teams, and organizations.

MCS programs are the most tested and refined leadership development programs available in the industry. MCS conducts rigorous internal testing of all programs. In addition, independent client studies have measured the effects of Fireline Leadership.

Both external and internal evaluations come to similar conclusions: program graduates, their subordinates, and supervisors describe significant and consistent improvement in decisional, leadership, and communication skills after graduating from MCS programs.

In the long term, these programs have also shown their positive effects. In South Canyon Fire: Ten Year Review of the Effectiveness of Planned Actions (PDF), researchers measured progress against the goals and objectives established following the South Canyon Fire burnover accident. Authors singled out Fireline Leadership as one of the most positive initiatives enacted since the accident. Near miss reports and After Action Reviews also document the positive effects that MCS programs have had on safety and culture.

Based on the quality of our programs and their value to the government, in late 2007 the U.S. Forest Service awarded MCS the national leadership series contract to provide L-380 and L-381 for USFS firefighters nationwide over the next three years.
